Simple React Snippets For Visual Studio Code

All of us want to be more productive. We want to produce more with less work. We say stupid things like, “Work smarter, not harder!” and read books called “The Four Hour Workweek”. Why? Two words: WE ARE LAZY.

But that’s 3 words.

No, the “are” doesn’t count because the sentence still works without it — We lazy. Pro-tip: Nobody likes a Grammar Nazi.

But I believe that laziness is a good thing. Laziness provides room for reflection and self introspection. Both of those are big words so you know they are very good things for society. More importantly, laziness allows for us to binge on Netflix which in turn encourages Netflix to make more shows like Stranger Things.

Because I am a decent human being and I love Stranger Things, today I celebrate laziness and it’s in that true spirit of lethargy that I am releasing my first Visual Studio Code Plugin: Simple React Snippets.

Introducing Simple React Snippets

Simple React Snippets is a set of essential React snippets for Visual Studio Code.

Washed Out is a highly underrated band

Notice how deftly I can import React and create a class. The ease with which I can set state. It’s like I’m not even trying.

What About All Of The Existing React Snippet Extensions?

Allow me to answer that question with another question…

Have you ever seen a picture of a pug and his toy corn?

This is Grover. That’s his corn. It smells far worse than you could ever imagine.

I rest my case.

If you need a more technical explanation (sigh), here it is…

This set of snippets is intentionally designed to be very minimalistic. I was brave enough to remove all of the cruft that I’m pretty sure you don’t need.

There are some other great snippets out there for React, but nearly all of them come bundled with other snippets — like React Native, Redux, Flux, ES7. When I was looking for React Snippets, I wanted just React and nothing else.

Besides, if you go off installing Redux, React Native and other snippets when all you want is React snippets, before you know it you’ll be adding Redux to your application and then building a mobile version. I mean, you might as well do it, you’ve got snippets for it! Before long you’ve missed your nap, worked late and you now have to choose between House Of Cards and Ozarks.

Nobody should have to make that choice.

You can get Simple React Snippets today from the Visual Studio Code extension gallery.

So many millions of people cannot be wrong

Sarcasm Disclaimer: I do not think that you are lazy, nor do I think you are a bad person you don’t like Stranger Things. Also, I may or may not have drastically altered the number of installs and ratings in the above screenshot.
